MUSIC VIDEO DIRECTED BY
ORIE MCGINNESS & ENLIGHTEN CREATIVE STUDIO
Starts off with joyful vibe with warm tones giving off a happy mood. Slowly turns darker and gloomy as the story unfolds, ending with a very lost and alone feeling.
The story will begin being very bright and vibrant and slowly become desaturated overtime using different colors schemes to convey the overall mood of each specific scene.
Characters to portray:
The story starts out with a young boy and his mother playing in the front yard of their house. The mother reveals a stuffed animal that she was hiding behind her back and hands it to her son as she smiles, it is sunny and vibrant outside. The camera pans up and reveals the mother wearing a bandana on her head. They are happy and joyful as the mother watches her son run around and play, she looks down at her hand where she is fidgeting with a bracelet reading her deceased daughters name, "Sarah", she looks back up and smiles with a slight tear in her eye. Her husband walks out of the front door and puts his hand on her shoulder with a weary look on his face and hands her the phone. The mother and husband walk inside to take the call while the boy continues playing in the front yard. The boy looks through the window where he sees his mom on the phone with tears filling her eyes, she hangs up the phone turns around and embraces her husband. Flash forward to the mothers birthday, she is sitting at the head of the table surrounded by balloons and family, in front of her, a cake. Her family is singing happy birthday to her as she smiles and a tear comes to her eye, she looks very frail and sick but keeps a smile on her face for her son. As she is blowing out the candles she starts having an episode / heart attack and falls to the floor. The boy is seen in a corner covering his ears and squeezing the stuffed animal as the paramedics rush his mother to the hospital. While she is in the operating room you see the son sitting in the waiting room holding the stuffed animal given to him by his mother. Finally the father comes out to the waiting room with tears in his eyes and embraces his son, telling him the horrible news of the passing of his mother. The stuffed animal hits the floor as the camera pans out to a wide of the empty, barren waiting room where you see the father and son grieving on the cold, hard floor.
The band will be performing in a big, elegant open ballroom with light spilling in giving it a very clean and classy look. There will be a piano in the middle of the room and the singers will be performing in front of the light spilling in and throughout the big open room.
Colors to use: Vibrant yellows and blues with warm bright tones to bring out the sun coming through the large windows.
Edit Pace: Slow to fit the pace and mood of the song, faster cuts at the more hectic emotional parts of the story.
Reference the ballroom the two individuals are dancing in.

Characters to portray:
- Dustin Bushnell
- Jared Watson
- Jon Olazabal
- Matt Ochoa
- David Foral
- Little sister (15-21 years old)
- "Family" members for b-roll
We intro the video with old home footage of the band members as kids learning to play instruments, talking about wanting to be rockstars when they grow up, etc. (This can be real footage if it exists, or faked so we can capture specific dialogue to lay the base of a story). The intro audio kicks in and we now cut to cinematic portrait shots of each band member in (performance scene 001) a cold looking dilapidated room with a large window set in one of the walls that allows soft white diffused light to key each member. Still intermittently showing the throwback footage. The members are all in the room setting up their instruments in slow motion (Tuning guitars, placing pieces of the drum kit together, someone opening sheet music and setting it on a piano in the room, writing lyrics to the song, etc).
We now see Dustin and Jared performing in scene 002 for the first half of the verse. These shots will cut between super wide arial drone shots to establish the location they are in and handheld ground footage to capture word clarity as well as slow motion b-roll detail of the guys, their wardrobe, detail of the location, etc.
During the second half of the verse, we reintroduce shots from scene 001, and begin to show "narrative" shots that will metaphorically visualize the lyrics that are heard in the song. Throwback footage of the guys is reintroduced as they are all a little older now. The footage will show them forming band practices, playing in garages, playing talent shows, etc.
We see a very cinematic super-slow motion medium cropped shot of Dustin or Jared writing the lyrics that you hear in the song. Confetti begins to fall from above to convey the celebration vibe but their emotions are more or less bleak and unenthused. B-roll of the guys at band practice as kids laughing and having a good time is shown, along with a brief argument between two of the boys breaks out. One storms out of the room. The rest of the guys follow him out and go out and console him and get him back in the room to jam. The vibe is restored and they're all cool with each other again.
During the second half of this section, we see either Dustin or Jared in a greenroom of a venue FaceTiming his family. The stage manager comes into the green room and tells them they're up to play. Dustin or Jared reluctantly relay that they have to hang up, close the laptop, and head out on stage.
We now show Scene 003: for the performance section. Dustin or Jared will be shown sitting on a couch in a living room singing/rapping along to the song to the camera. In the room, we have "family" members hustling around him as if they are setting up a party for the guys once they return home from tour. We will intermittently now show real early throwback footage of the band on the road for the first time, playing for smaller crowds, basically making their start as a "real" band". For performance - In a single shot that slowly dolly's in, we see the lights in the room shift from seeming as though it was naturally lit by the ambient daylight into a party themed night-time style set, now with all of his family members all trying to catch up with him, party and have a good time.
For the first half - We now cut back to Scene 001 with the full band performing and jamming out to the song. The track used for playback will be sped up so we can slow the footage down in post to sync with the original tempo - but still be shown in slow motion. Inside the "cold" looking room, we now see snow begin to fall around each member to simulate a blizzard type effect.
During the second half - We continue to show the snowy aesthetic in scene 001, but now begin to show more detail and shots from scene 002 along with real tour footage from the band members, signings, etc.
We see an overhead shot of dustin or Jared laying down in the middle of the room that the "party" took place in for scene 003. The camera is facing the ground and rotates 360 degrees around as confetti falls from the ceiling onto the ground as he sings. The camera slowly moves closer and closer as the line plays out. No cuts are shown during this section.
This chorus is a big montage of all of the most aesthetically pleasing shots from each member from each scene. We will show highlights of the trials and tribulations of the band growing into who they are now in the throwback VHS footage.
We end the film with a drone shot that starts on a semi-close shot the guys and flys off into the hills, pans up to the sky, and fades to black or white.

Scene 003: Dustin or Jared will be shown sitting on a couch in a living room singing/rapping along to the song to the camera. In the room, we have "family" members hustling around him as if they are setting up a party for the guys once they return home from tour. In a single shot that slowly dolly's in, we see the lights in the room shift from seeming as though it was naturally lit by the ambient daylight into a party themed night-time style set, now with all of his family members all trying to catch up with him, party and have a good time.
